Zilberman artists at the OMM Museum
OMM (Odunpazarı Modern Museum), a contemporary art museum in Odunpazarı, Eskişehir, created by Erol Tabanca, took center stage with its exhibition "At the End of the Day," which ran from October 2nd to April 25th, 2021. The event also reunited numerous Zilberman artists. Inspired by Ursula K. Le Guin's short story "The World Is a Forest," first published in 1972, the selection is rooted in the world we live in, which has become akin to the concrete planet referred to in Le Guin's work as "Earth," whose resources have been exhausted to the limit.
The works examine themes such as excessive consumption and even more production to satisfy this consumption, the misconception that nature can be a commodity or "background" for humanity, and the forced migration that will shape the next century, inviting the viewer to rethink their own relationship with nature. Nearly forty representatives of Turkish contemporary art history participated in the exhibition with their works, while works by Azade Köker, Elmas Deniz, Guido Casaretto and Yaşam Şaşmazer can also be viewed.
