to her, and with her; ‘In the midst of these dreadful times, we found ourselves naturally in a continuous correspondence – on friendship, on what is to be done, on cultivating hope and a space for creation. Through improvisation, the performance reflects a space in the making; a correspondence of sound and scenes in creation. Holding the very present moment in a stream of our unconscious, on continuous grief, death, friendship, and ways of being and acting together.’
Our People are our Mountains: Introductions for Placemaking exhibition was on view at Appel Amsterdam between October 5 and November 10, 2024. Curated by the artists and de Appel team with Marina Christodoulidou and Noor Abuarafeh, the exhibition was a collaboration with Jakarta Biennale 2024.
In addition, Noor Abed and Zeynep Kayan’s performance titled to her, and with her took place at Beursschouwburg in Brussels on November 2, 2024, as part of the program Vultures Feast. This three-day event explored our relationship with the dead, moving beyond grief as an individual and privately hidden experience.
