Carlos Aires' Trinity is now on view at MACAM’s àCapela
Carlos Aires’ site-specific installation Trinity, acquired for MACAM – Museu de Arte Contemporânea Armando’s permanent collection, is now on view in the museum’s àCapela – Live Arts & Bar, located within the restored and deconsecrated chapel of Nossa Senhora do Carmo.
Conceived specifically for this unique architectural setting, Trinity explores the complex and age-old tension between spirituality and the brutality of war. The work invites visitors to engage with the layered memory of the space, establishing a dialogue between its historic identity and the contemporary artistic intervention. Through its immersive approach, Trinity revitalizes the chapel while respecting its symbolism, offering new ways of perceiving and experiencing the site in depth, and inviting a reflective encounter between past and present.
