İz Öztat participated in Before What Came After, a performance and dialogue event curated by artist Vlatka Horvat. Held on October 11, 2026 at HAU Hebbel am Ufer in Berlin, the event was part of the Love is a Verb #2 festival and brought together international women artists living in Berlin around their personal photographic archives.
Through photographs shared from their own collections, participants explored migration, diaspora, loss, social change and possibilities for the future. Images documenting everyday places, objects and moments became part of an improvised narrative connecting individual memory with broader social and political histories. Öztat’s artistic practice, which addresses state violence and experiences excluded from official historical narratives, resonates with the event’s focus on memory and alternative forms of storytelling.
