Janet Bellotto's solo exhibition at Bewaerschole

The exhibition One Point Five Below focuses on Bellotto's recent work on islands in the Atlantic and Indian Oceans from 8 April to 7 May 2023. The images she creates focus on delicate ecologies and environments and the space between land, sky, and water. Water that laps against a coast or engulfs entire islands, water that connects and divides. Water separates land masses, but in Bellotto's work, land and water are not always distinguishable: surface reflections blur the boundaries between solid and liquid. They are stories about the borders, the surroundings, and the environment. They show both the imagined and the real dreams and the bewildering consequences of rising sea levels and climate change.
