Heba Y. Amin featured in Wildfire I, film programme at Ibraaz London
Heba Y. Amin took part in Wildfire I, the first in a three-part film series curated by Bani Abidi. The screening took place on December 4, 2025 at Minassa – Cinema & Performance Room of Ibraaz London.
Wildfire I reflects on the meaning of friendship and solidarity in times of genocide, exploring how new alliances form while long-standing bonds are tested. Abidi’s curation brings together works by five Berlin-based artists—Candice Breitz, Basma Alsharif, Pinar Öğrenci, Heba Y. Amin, and Sylvia Schedelbauer—each offering intimate and political perspectives on witnessing, belonging and collective grief.
Amin presented her film Iterations on Witnessing: Suite I, a durational work and evolving archive that examines the ethics of seeing. Drawing on the neurological concept of blindsight, the piece investigates what is visible, what is omitted, and how acts of witnessing can carry both violence and responsibility. Through sequential “variations” informed by her research and travels, Amin questions how we record without claiming, observe without extraction, and remember without possession.
