Sim Chi Yin in Art Remembers at National Gallery Singapore

Sim Chi Yin is participating in the group exhibition Art Remembers at National Gallery Singapore, on view from August 21 to October 18, 2026.

Exploring Southeast Asia’s past through diverse perspectives, the exhibition examines how artists engage with archives, historical records and personal memories to bring overlooked narratives into view. Bringing together photography, video, print, digital and technology-driven practices, the exhibition approaches archives not merely as records of the past, but as dynamic spaces in which historical narratives can be reinterpreted and new futures imagined.

Featuring Sim’s works Interventions (2018–ongoing) and Time Travels with a Rotten Suitcase (2025), the exhibition highlights the power of art to shape collective memory and question established historical narratives. It brings together new commissions and selected works from the National Gallery Singapore’s collection.
