Selçuk Artut taught Generating Geometric Patterns with Creative Coding at Nesin Mathematics Village from August 24 to 30, 2026. The course focused on generating geometric patterns through creative coding and was led by Artut, an artist and academic at Sabancı University.
The course explored computer programming from both conceptual and practical perspectives, approaching computation as a tool for artistic creation. Drawing on geometric art practices traditionally developed with a compass and ruler, participants examined mathematical relationships and symmetrical structures between geometric forms. These relationships were first explored through hand-drawn constructions and subsequently programmed and rendered digitally.
Designed for undergraduate and graduate students, the course offered an interdisciplinary framework for exploring the relationship between mathematical thinking and creative coding.
