Sena Başöz, curates Bird’s-Eye View: Screening and Talk on Colonialism and Infrastructure
Curated by Sena Başöz, Bird’s-Eye View: A Screening and Talk on Colonialism and Infrastructure will take place on December 24, 2025. The event examines how aerial communication and surveillance technologies, from early telegraphy to contemporary drones and satellites, have shaped systems of control and power.
In its second edition, following its first presentation at Delfina Foundation in London, Bird’s-Eye View brings together works by Jananne Al-Ani, Harun Farocki, Miranda Pennell, Christopher Stewart, and Hakan Topal, exploring the sky as a contested site of domination, surveillance, and militarisation.
The screening will be followed by a talk moderated by Sena Başöz, with Prof. Burçe Çelik and artists Serra Tansel and Hakan Topal. The event forms part of the AHRC-funded research project Colonialism and Communication: British Telecommunications in Early 20th-Century Mesopotamia.
