Yane Calovski and Hristina Ivanoska at ECHO – NLB Contemporary Art Collection in a Dialogue exhibition (27/03/2025)
Yane Calovski and Hristina Ivanoska are featured in ECHO, a major exhibition presenting the contemporary art collection of Nova Ljubljanska Banka (NLB) at MUZA – Museum, Gallery and Academy in Ljubljana. The show brings together recent acquisitions from Southeast Europe with works from Slovenia’s 20th and early 21st-century art history. ECHO explores artistic continuity and transformation across time. Artist's inclusion highlights the relevance and responsiveness of current artistic practices to today’s sociocultural shifts. The exhibition, curated by Mira Gakjina, Meta Kordiš, and Tevž Logar, will run between between March 27, 2025 and February 8, 2026.
Their collaborative work Oskar Hansen’s Museum of Modern Art (2007) explores Oskar Hansen’s visionary but unrealized 1966 proposal for a new Museum of Modern Art in Skopje, following the devastating earthquake of 1963. His design imagined a transformable exhibition space—hexagonal units lifted by hydraulically powered telescopes, shifting simultaneously in vertical and horizontal directions. “Art in its development is unpredictable,” Hansen wrote. “A contemporary gallery should pursue the unknown in art.”
