Artist Talk with Memed Erdener at Istanbul Modern: Metaphor and the Absurd (29/05/2025)
As part of Istanbul Modern’s “Your Thursday” Artist Meetings, a talk with artist Memed Erdener was held on Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Istanbul Modern Library.
Known by the pseudonym “Extramücadele” and as a member of the influential art group Hafriyat, Erdener led the session drawing inspiration from philosopher Monroe Beardsley’s idea that “a metaphor is a miniature poem” and his broader aesthetic theories. The program began with a brief presentation showcasing examples of the artist’s work and invited participants to explore the narrative forms of art.
