Judith Raum to lecture at Ravensbrück on looms, memory, and resistance (25/10/2025)

On October 25th, Judith Raum will deliver a lecture at the Ravensbrück concentration camp near Berlin, as part of visual artist Dominique Hurth’s exhibition titled Laufmasche und Webfehler (Runs and Flaws in Weaving). The Ravensbrück camp housed a weaving mill where female inmates were forced to produce the fabric used for the striped uniforms worn by prisoners in Nazi concentration camps. Drawing on her research about Bauhaus weaver Otti Berger, Raum will explore positive and visionary ways of identifying with the loom as a significant tool.
