Yane Calovski at Motion That Comes Back to the Body, Bunkier Sztuki, Kraków (24/09/2025)

Yane Calovski takes part in Motion That Comes Back to the Body, on view at Bunkier Sztuki, Kraków, from September 24, 2025, to January 4, 2026. Curated by Marta Lisok and Agnieszka Sachar, the exhibition reactivates works from the Bunkier Sztuki Collection by approaching them as instructions waiting to be materialised.

Calovski presents Something Laid Over Something Else (2016/2025), an installation that reflects his ongoing research into the non-linear character of collective memory, foregrounding its absences, errors, and corporeal traces. He uses stainless steel, organic rubber, paper, and graphite to convey the history of the museum's building as a stratified architecture suspended between facts, guesswork, and contexts that are still unfolding.

By revisiting and transforming the connection between the selected materials and the minimal forms, Something Laid Over Something Else underscores the fluidity of meaning and the instability of authorship when material is reactivated in new temporal and spatial constellations. In this way, the installation extends Calovski’s long-term interest in memory, improvisation, and the open-endedness of process, aligning with the exhibition’s invitation to experience collections as living, performative entities rather than static displays.
