İz Öztat at the 6th Kyiv Biennial: Near East, Far West (03/10/2025)
İz Öztat will take part in the 6th Kyiv Biennial, Near East, Far West, on view from October 3, 2025, to January 18, 2026, in Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, Poland. Curated by Nick Aikens, Vasyl Cherepanyn, Zippora Elders, Charles Esche, Nav Haq, Serge Klymko, and Magda Lipska, the exhibition explores intertwined histories of colonial violence, displacement, and resistance across “Middle-East-Europe.”
Bringing together new commissions and key works from international collections, the biennial reflects on how ongoing wars, occupations, and struggles for autonomy shape today’s cultural and political realities. While feelings of pain and loss triggered by the absence of peace and security across the region permeate the galleries, the exhibition holds onto the potential of an anti-imperial political alternative for a future European project.
