İz Öztat’s Rest acquired by The Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) (01/07/2025)
The Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) has acquired İz Öztat’s installation and video titled Rest (2024) for its collection. The work was commissioned for IMMA’s major exhibition Self-Determination: A Global Perspective, which brought together international artists reflecting on nation-state ideologies and the struggles to resist them. With this acquisition, Öztat’s practice—often exploring suppressed histories and collective processes—enters one of Ireland’s most significant public collections. Rest contemplates gestures and forms that evoke subjugation, struggle, resilience, confrontation, negotiation, and recovery.
