Sim Chi Yin at Damn True Festival, Tokyo (21/12/2025)
On December 21, 2025, as part of Damn True Festival in Tokyo, Sim Chi Yin spoke on a panel dedicated to storytelling across media. The session brought together Kou Aizhe, Sim, and Xie Ding, who shared their approaches to documenting and narrating real stories through different artistic forms. Sim also spoke on a separate panel on artistic and documentary methods of telling stories of one’s grandparents.
Focusing on how lived experience can be transformed into resonant artistic and narrative practices, the inaugural festival explored storytelling in Chinese as a method of recording reality, expanding it into visual, literary, and cross-disciplinary expressions.
