Isaac Chong Wai featured in Spheres of Interest, the ifa collection's publication by DISTANZ (25/12/2025)
DISTANZ has released the publication Spheres of Interest, a comprehensive volume exploring the institution’s distinctive art collection and its layered exhibition histories. The book accompanies the long-term project Between East and West: Reflections of the ifa Collection in Contemporary Artistic Practice, bringing together new artistic and curatorial research.
The ifa collection includes nearly 24,000 works spanning the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. For Spheres of Interest, curators Inka Gressel and Susanne Weiß invited six contemporary artists - Isaac Chong Wai, Lizza May David, Wilhelm Klotzek, Ofri Lapid, Adrien Missika, and Gitte Villesen - to respond to the archive, the collection, and key moments in ifa’s institutional history. Designed by Achim Reichert, the book offers an in-depth perspective on how contemporary artistic practice can reactivate institutional memory and reframe archival material for the present.
The publication will be presented on February 20, 2026 at ifa Gallery Berlin.
