Sim Chi Yin wins the inaugural Objectifs Women in Focus Art Prize (25/12/2025)
Objectifs – Centre for Photography and Film has announced Sim Chi Yin as the winner of its first Women in Focus Art Prize for mid-career artists. The annual award recognises outstanding contributions by women visual artists in Southeast Asia.
Chi Yin utilizes archival methodologies and aesthetic strategies to challenge established historical narratives and colonial perspectives. Her research-driven practice encompasses photography, film, installation, performance, and book-making. Her work has been extensively exhibited and is included in major public and private collections internationally.
As part of the prize programme, Chi Yin will give an artist talk on January 21, 2026, reflecting on her two-decade journey from award-winning journalist and foreign correspondent to one of today’s most incisive visual artists.
