Itamar Gov is included in Whatever Shape your Heart is in, a group exhibition on view from March 5 to May 3, 2026, at ZAK Zentrum für Aktuelle Kunst, Berlin. Bringing together Berlin-based artists, the exhibition reflects on the persistence of individual perspective in the face of social and political challenges, foregrounding themes of resistance, vulnerability, and hope.
Within this context, Gov presents Dulce et decorum est (2025), an installation composed of inflated foil balloons in various shapes and colours, tethered to a helium container. At first glance, the work evokes the visual language of celebration—recalling the cheerful forms of children’s party balloons—yet upon closer inspection, these forms reveal themselves as tanks, fighter jets, helicopters, and explosions. This subtle shift destabilises the initial reading, exposing the entanglement of violence and spectacle within everyday visual culture.
