Heba Y. Amin's symposium Witnessing Otherwise at Kunstmuseum Stuttgart (12/04/2026)
On the occasion of Iterations on Witnessing, Heba Y. Amin presents the one-day symposium Witnessing Otherwise at Kunstmuseum Stuttgart, as part of the Hans Molfenter Prize 2025, on April 12, 2026. Conceived and curated by the artist, the symposium approaches witnessing as a political relationship between observer and observed, foregrounding the hierarchies and power structures embedded within this dynamic.
Through a series of lectures, conversations, and screenings, participants including Nicholas Humphrey, Marianna Liosi, Tiara Roxanne, and Maya Ganesh reflect on how structural violence is inscribed into landscapes and materials, as well as on the role of images as instruments of control and the strategies developed to resist them.
