On September 15th between 6 – 8 pm, Amin also gave a lecture-performance at the Pera Museum Auditorium entitled “The General’s Stork.” By bringing together prophecies, colonial narratives and the politics of observation, the artist examined the conditions of our paranoid present which transformed a migratory bird into an international spy. Under the coordination of artist Zeyno Pekünlü, the Istanbul Biennal’s public program in the opening and closing weeks featured symposiums titled “Chosen Families” and “Mutual Fate” inviting international guest speakers. These symposiums accompanied other events such as ongoing discussions, screenings, workshops, communal cooking events, readings and musical sessions that have continued throughout the biennial.
