Walid Siti at “Monuments to the Unsung”, Amsterdam (04/10/2018)

Framer Framed invited Walid Siti, Wafae Ahalouch and Suat Ögüt to create a work in the public space of Amsterdam-Noord for the show “Monuments to the Unsung”. Each from their own perspective questioned who gets visibility in public space, and who is missing, investigating the way in which monuments reflect structural power relations in society. Through their works the artists empowered and reclaimed public space for underrepresented groups. The exhibition is part of the first edition of “Pay attention Please”, organized by eleven art institutions in Amsterdam and dealing with different perspectives on art in public space. “Monuments to the Unsung” took place on IJpromenade 2 in Amsterdam-Noord from 21 June until 30 September 2018.
