Burçak Bingöl and Azade Köker at Kunstverein Tiergarten, Berlin (21/02/2021)


Burçak Bingöl and Azade Köker are part of the group exhibition Shifting Patterns | Dönüşen Paternler, curated by Ayşe Güngör and Veronika Witte and taking place at Galerie Nord – Kunstverein Tiergarten in Berlin from October 31, 2020 until February 27, 2021. In addition to Burçak Bingöl and Azade Köker, the show features works by Gülsün Karamustafa, Evrim Kavcar, Ekin Su Koç, Yasemin Özcan and Yıldız Tüzün. Shifting Patterns | Dönüşen Paternler is accompanied by an exhibition catalogue with contributions by Ayşe Güngör and Lotte Laub and an introduction by Veronika Witte. The title alludes to the shifting, drifting, rearranging or even relocating of life models and aesthetic practices, which blend in a hybrid amalgamation with the geographical movement and initiate a cultural repositioning.

On occasion of the exhibition, the online panel “(post-)migratory aesthetics” took place on February 16, 2021, moderated by the curators and introduced with a keynote speech by Burcu Doğramacı, professor of art history at the LMU Munich, and followed by a discussion with Burcu Doğramacı, representatives of Puduhepa, Lotte Laub and the participating artists Burçak Bingöl, Evrim Kavcar, Ekin Su Koç.
