Pedro Gomez Egana at L’appartement 22 exhibition, Rabat, Morocco (03/11/2022)

L’appartement 22 (2002-2022) exhibition at Lot 219 in Morocco is structured following the model of a souk, in a way that makes every work accessible, from all sides, including the skeleton and the shipping crates. The works Anytime Now and Birds by Pedro Gómez-Egaña are included in the exhibition organized by the independent art space. Anytime Now, plays on the compulsions of what could be seen as a traumatized subject. The work follows a desire to explore diverse what-if scenarios: What if there’s a car crash? What if there’s an earthquake? What if a bridge falls? The absurdity and diversity of the representations are emphasized insistently and repetitively. The video Birds, based on the performance, shows the projections as captured by a camera attached to custom-made dollies. The projected text tells a series of anecdotes, and stories about people who get lost or fall asleep and are unable to wake up. The exhibition takes place from October 11, 2022, to January 12, 2023.
