Pedro Gómez-Egaña at La Biennale de Lyon 2022 (05/11/2022)

Pedro Gómez Egaña’s installation/performance Virgo is on display at the 16th Lyon Biennale, curated by Sam Bardaouil and Till Fellrath. The 16th Lyon Biennale: manifesto of fragility positions fragility at the heart of a generative form of resistance that is emboldened by the past, responsive to the present and primed for the future. In acknowledging fragility as one of few universally felt truths in our divided world, the Biennale assembles a host of creative practices and objects spanning two millennia that variously speak to the vulnerabilities of people and places, past and present.

Through the Virgo, Pedro Gómez-Egaña invites us to rethink everyday spaces and experiences of our technologically infused lives through mostly analogue, mobile stagings, that focus on the atmosphere and uncanniness of domestic life. A site that is both familiar and absurd, Virgo is a vehicle for reflecting on the fact that everything that seems solid and durable actually turns out to be suspended in a state of constant fragility. Virgo can be seen at the Usines Fagor site of the biennial until 31 December.
