Selçuk Artut's Geometric Patterns with Creative Coding was published by the New York-based Apress (06/07/2023)

In his seventh book, academician and artist Artut, who focuses on Sound and Image experiences, takes a novel look at generative art, which is currently being followed by large audiences. Artut contends that rather than dividing viewpoints like Old-New and East-West, art history should be viewed as a holistic evolution. Therefore, art should be seen as a malleable entity in which different cultures are in a perpetual state of interaction with one another over time.

Examining the relationships between media art, Artut's new book departs from the understanding of art history in the hegemony of Western Cultures and focuses specifically on Geometry Art, which was a pivotal element for a long time, primarily in Eastern Geography. In his book, the artist uses innovative coding techniques to bring twenty-three traditional geometric patterns from the past thousand years into the twenty-first century using computational methods. The algorithmic techniques outlined by Artut in his book strikingly illuminate the undiscovered connections between the past and the future.
