Sim Chi Yin in the exhibition No Necessary Correspondence (16/07/2023)


Sim Chi Yin showed two new chapters of her long project on her family history and the anti-colonial war in Malaya for the first time in New York - the Whitney Museum of American Art Independent Study Program studio show, No Necessary Correspondence. The exhibition included works made by the 2022–23 Studio Program participants. It was on view at the ISP between May 17 and 28, 2023. The Mountain That Hid, a commission for Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary was edited by Aacharee Ohm Ungsriwong. The Suitcase Is A Little Bit Rotten is a commission for Autograph on which Sim Chi Yin worked with Renee Musai and Bindi Vora.
