Sim Chi Yin at the exhibition Sand: Resource, life, desire at Museum Sinclair Haus (24/09/2023)

Roads, paths, soils – we move on and over sand. Sand not only shapes our beaches, it forms the basis for the construction of our cities. Sand is symbolically sprouting more and more from the ground all over the world. Even on the display of our smartphone or in our own four walls, we come into contact with sand every day without noticing it. The second most important raw material in the world after water, although with much less awareness, sand almost silently determines the standard of living for a large part of the world's population. The exhibition Sand: Resource, life, desire is dedicated to this indispensable raw material, a material that is all too often banalized, and shows its diversity and its emotional and material significance for our society. The exhibition featuring Sim Chi Yin's Shifting Sands series is open to visitors at Museum Sinclair Haus from September 24, 2023 to February 11, 2024.
