İz Öztat and Sena Başöz at border_less EDITIONS (28/11/2023)

The series of border_less EDITIONS, were exhibited at Zilberman Istanbul’s main gallery space,  through November 28 – December 2, 2023. Since early 2021, border_less, founded by Melek Gençer and Huo Rf, has been running the EDITIONS series, which not only creates a space for artists to produce editioned, more accessible works, but also provides a dynamic and dialogic model of sustainability for border_less.

Sena Başöz's works Is it Time? and Yes and İz Öztat's work Support were included in the selection. In her installation Forough (2018), Sena Başöz used fans to activate the stuffed bird portraits she took at the Natural History Museum of Saint Joseph French High School. Is it time? and Yes explores the potential energy of three of these portraits as accumulated layers. İz Öztat's Support is located between the reader's skin and the book's cover. It contributes to the book's and its reader's fantasy of sharing a common surface. The brass body and skin engraved on its surface are a reinterpretation of Juan Valverde de Amus- co's engraving (1560).
