Jaffa Lam at the exhibition Facing Fabrics (14/09/2024)

The exhibition Facing Fabrics looked for the different trends within the critical textile arts and showed work by both young emerging artists and established names. The carriers of the works shown are not limited to textile material, but also work is done interdisciplinary and 'interformally' on the basis of an intuitive association, a mental connection that encourages reflection on the role, value and meaning of textiles in society.

Textiles are always about the transfer of values, stories and about the connection between people and in relation to society. Facing Fabrics aims to be a multi-layered exhibition that raises issues such as gender, activism, decolonization, feminism, migration and that aims to give the viewer a broader view of textiles. The exhibition Facing Fabrics, curated by Jan Leconte on the occasion of the biennial Textile Festival Ronse, took place from September 14 to October 13, 2024 at CC De Ververij Ronse Cultural Center, Belgium.
