Sim Chi Yin at Disobedience Archive at Kunsthal Charlottenborg’s (15/03/2025)

Sim Chi Yin’s work Requiem is featured in Disobedience Archive, an expansive exhibition at Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen, running from March 15 to August 11, 2025. The exhibition brings together artistic and documentary practices that explore acts of resistance, activism, and dissent across different historical and geopolitical contexts. Disobedience Archive is curated by Marco Scotini and has been presented at institutions worldwide since 2005, most recently at the Venice Biennale in 2024.

Requiem depicts now-elderly former communists reclaiming memories of their political participation, war, deportation, exile and socialist dreams, in the form of song. It is a poignant reflection on war, memory, and the unseen narratives of history. Through archival images and personal stories, Sim Chi Yin reexamines the roles of photojournalism and representation in shaping collective memory.
