İz Öztat hosted two events at the Berlin Artistic Research Programme (19/11/2024)

İz Öztat hosted events supported by the Berlin Artistic Research Programme. On November 19, 2024, she mediated a conversation following Adnan Çelik’s talk, A Constellation of the Kurdish Memorial Regimes on the Armenian Genocide. The discussion explored how Kurdish counter-memory of the Armenian Genocide has developed under Turkey’s politics of denial. Recep Maraşlı reflected on his role in memorialization efforts, while Banu Karaca expanded on how state violence and dispossession have shaped art history and the art world in Turkey.

The following day, İz Öztat and Adnan Çelik moderated the workshop titled, Political Imaginaries in Poetry from Kurdistan Affected by Violence and Resistance, with translations and contributions by Ergin Öpengin. Participants collectively read and discussed the poems, exploring themes of anti-colonial resistance to state violence and international solidarity.
