Itamar Gov featured in Genius Loci. Notes on Places (02/05/2025)
Itamar Gov participates not only in Kunstverein Ludwigshafen’s main exhibition but also in two distinct projects in the Rhineland-Palatinate region during the Genius Loci. Notes on Places exhibition running from May 2 to October 31, 2025. The exhibition explores the spirit and identity of place through diverse cultural and social contexts and artistic disciplines.
Speyer – Beauty and Ugliness (May 9 – June 29, 2025, Industriehof Speyer) section revisits Lee’s 1912 text “Beauty and Ugliness,” exploring art’s role in social healing and propaganda. Artists like Marcos Kueh, Theresa Lawrenz, Zuzanna Czebatul, and Paola Siri Renard examine shifting societal values, while Kevin Jerome Everson blurs boundaries between reality and simulation. Itamar Gov focuses on the permeability of social norms in everyday life and the fragile balance between participation, belonging, and alienation.
Mainz – Vital Lies: Studies of Some Varieties of Recent Obscurantism (August 23 – October 26, 2025, Schule des Sehens, Abgusssammlung): section critically addresses Lee’s 1912 thesis about falsities as political tools. Itamar Gov’s work Olympia in the Abgusssammlung collection questions the boundaries between copy, fake, and original, standing out with its deceptive realism.
