Asia NOW 2024
17/10/2024 - 20/10/2024
Zilberman is pleased to present a solo presentation of works by Isaac Chong Wai at Asia NOW Paris.
Isaac Chong Wai’s new series entitled Rehearsed, Mirrored (2024) is a continuation of his 7-channel video installation and performance Falling Reversely, currently exhibited in a 300 square meters space in the Arsenale of this years 60th International Art Exhibition La Biennale di Venezia, Foreigners Everywhere. Alongside this new group of works, Zilberman presents a series of photographs that relate directly to the aforementioned performance Falling Reversely, in which Chong explores choreographies of collectively falling bodies and how our bodies respond to racially motivated aggression. Finally, Zilberman showcases Chong’s earlier series Missing Spaces (2019/2023) and Muted Dimensions (2023).
While normative narratives practice a certain rhetoric, the works of Isaac Chong Wai invite us to participate in dialogues of vulnerability and resilience. Chong’s works deal with time, memory and propose body movement as a commemorative tool for the future.
