Fatoş İrwen featured in Arter’s group exhibition Under Pressure Above Water (12/06/2025)

Fatoş İrwen is taking part in the group exhibition Under Pressure Above Water, curated by Nilüfer Şaşmazer. The show brings together 33 works by 15 artists in diverse media such as painting, sculpture, and photography.

Taking place across Arter’s ground and lower ground floor galleries, the exhibition examines the psychological and emotional toll of today’s complex global crises – environmental disasters, conflict, migration, and instability – and how individuals navigate and respond to these pressures through art.

In the first section, works reflect the intellectual and emotional "atmospheric pressure" produced by spiraling contemporary issues. The second part shifts focus toward tactics of endurance, resistance, and staying “above water” amidst adversity. Through her work, Fatoş İrwen gives visual form to processes of transformation and resilience, bridging poetic expression with embodied resistance. The exhibition will run between June 12, 2025 and January 11, 2026.
