Selçuk Artut
Selçuk Artut (b. 1976, Izmir) explores the theoretical and practical dimensions of the intricate relationship between humans and technology. His practice examines the evolving dynamics of this interaction, focusing on how it shapes perception, experience, and the boundaries of creativity.Through his artworks, Artut creates convergence points between humans and technology, dissolving established boundaries.
Artut earned his PhD in Media and Communication from the European Graduate School in Switzerland. He is a faculty member in the Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design program at Sabancı University. Beyond his artistic practice, he is the author of seven books, reflecting his academic engagement with the intersections of art, media, and technology.
In addition to his research and visual arts practice, Artut is deeply involved in music. Since 1998, he has been a member of the post-rock avant-garde band Replikas, with whom he has released multiple albums. In 2016, he co-founded RAW (www.rawlivecoding.com), an audiovisual performance duo that explores creative and live coding techniques.
Artut's works have been showcased at major cultural venues and events, including Sonar Istanbul, ISEA, AKM Istanbul, Siggraph, Dystopie Sound Art Festival Berlin, Moving Image New York, Art London, ICA London, Art Hong Kong, and the Istanbul Biennial.
