Ah Ma: On family memory and trauma

Wie kann über das jahrzehntelange Schweigen in der Familie gesprochen werden? Wer darf für wen sprechen? Gibt es Ausgelöschtes und Verschwiegenes, das besser unangetastet bleibt oder sollte es beharrlich ausgegraben werden? Die singapurische Künstlerin Sim Chi Yin und der malaysische Schriftsteller Tash Aw haben beide Familienmemoiren verfasst und veröffentlicht, die sich aber in ihren Herangehensweisen unterscheiden. Sie werden über ihre Bücher She Never Rode That Trishaw Again und Strangers On A Pier sprechen, über ihre jeweiligen Ansätze sowie die unterschiedlichen Formen der Übersetzung ihrer Familiengeschichten und transgenerationalen Traumata. Sie werden darüber diskutieren, warum und inwieweit Mikronarrative wichtig sind und was uns erhalten bleibt.

Das Gespräch wird auf Englisch geführt.
