Sim Chi Yin at the Invisible Race exhibition at The Finnish Museum of Photography (19/09/2025)
Sim Chi Yin takes part in the group exhibition Invisible Race at The Finnish Museum of Photography, Helsinki, on view from September 19, 2025 to March 8, 2026. Curated at the museum’s Cable Factory location, the exhibition examines the role of photography and visual culture in shaping racialized understandings of humanity and sustaining racist structures.
By interrogating the often-unspoken construct of Whiteness as both an aesthetic and political ideal, Invisible Race seeks to make visible the hierarchies of power it enforces. Featuring photography, video, and archival interventions, the exhibition highlights how these mediums have contributed both to the normalization of racial ideologies and to their resistance, pointing toward possibilities of decolonized and anti-racist futures.
