Sim Chi Yin at Talking Objects, Singapore Art Museum (12/09/2025)

Sim’s work is being exhibited in the group show Talking Objects, on view at the Singapore Art Museum from September 12, 2025, to July 19, 2026. The exhibition examines how everyday objects and representations gather meanings through use and circulation, highlighting the emotions and values attached to the material and visual world around us. Sim's works from the Remnants series, featured in this exhibition, are part of her One Day We’ll Understand project, which is included in the permanent collection of the Singapore Art Museum.

Presented in unfamiliar or unsettling contexts, quotidian objects are transformed into powerful instruments of expression, carrying ambiguous histories and memories. Drawn primarily from the Singapore Art Museum’s collection, the works in Talking Objects invite viewers to reconsider how we engage with the objects surrounding us and reflect on what they reveal about human experience. The exhibition is presented in parallel with The Living Room in the Collection Gallery, encouraging audiences to reflect on how art is experienced, interpreted, and transmitted across time and space.
