Burçak Bingöl at the French Palace Istanbul, Anna Laudel Gallery and in the international media (16/11/2017)

The cognac brand Moët Hennessy, part of the French LVMH group, is celebrating the legendary Silk Road and its local heritage via a journey narrated by seven contemporary artists from seven countries. The works produced for this project coordinated by independent art consultant Herve Mikaeloff are presented to audiences at a number of local events. The “Jardin Particulier” project, consisting of three different ceramic works by Burçak Bingöl for the Istanbul segment of the “Silk Road Odyssey” project opened at the French Palace on October 24th with a special invitation-only event. In her two site-specific installations for the French Palace, Bingöl formed stylistic and semantic relationships between the cultural legacy of ceramic materials and the tradition and methods of the cognac brand’s production process. A tour of the exhibition and conversations with the artist took place within the scope of the project from October 25-27. Films produced by National Geographic photographers and film producers as part of this project will be published in the future to be shared with international audiences.

Curated by Huma Kabakçı and Mine Küçük, the exhibition “Past Meets Present” was on display at the Anna Laudel Gallery between September 7th and October 20th. The exhibition was an anthology inspired by history, produced with different materials and techniques, and consisting of works by Turkish and international artists. On display were current artworks dealing with the past, present and their relationship with each other. While commenting anew on events and objects witnessed in daily lives, the exhibition also looked at how history has shaped the reality of our present. Burçak Bingöl took part in the exhibition with her works titled “Fall Into III” (2017) and “Horror Vacui” (2016) along the works by16 artists including Hera Büyüktaşçıyan, Patrick Hough, Maude Maris and Shahpour Pouyan, to name a few. A talk with the artists within the scope of the exhibition moderated by exhibition curators Huma Kabakçı and Mine Küçük was held on Sunday, September 24th between 5 and 6:30 PM, which Bingöl attended as one of the speakers.
