Pedro Gómez-Egaña at The Munch Museum / Den Norske Opera & Ballett, Oslo (26/06/2019)

Pedro Gómez-Egaña’s solo exhibition 'The Voice of Jacob at Dawn' is taking place at Den Norske Opera & Ballett in Oslo between 6 - 30 June 2019. The exhibition is curated by Natalie Hope O’Donell and commissioned for The Munch Museum, Oslo, for Munchmuseet on the Move 2019.

Gómez-Egaña’s new installation The Voice of Jacob at Dawn, 2019 is based on the character Jacob Jarmann, the founder of the old Nylandsverkstedet factory, which used to exist exactly where the Opera is today and imagines him having a case of sleep paralysis. Instead of a daemon, it is a steam engine sitting heavy on his chest. The Oslo fog, the steam of the machine, and the conflicting feelings of fear and desire confound him.
