Sim Chi Yin at Gropius Bau (05/04/2023)

The group exhibition Indigo Waves and Other Stories: Re-Navigating the African Sea and Notions of Diaspora, which took the stories and histories of the Indian Ocean as its starting point, runs from 5 April to 13 August 2023. The Indian Ocean emerges as a communal horizon that reveals shades of cultural, linguistic, political, and historical passages from ancient times to the present. The exhibition takes us from ancient routes of transregional exploration, trade, and seasonal migration up through contemporary Afroasiatic exchanges, from languages, sounds, waters, economies, philosophies, and more. Curated by Natasha Ginwala and Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung with Michelangelo Corsaro, the exhibition consists of two parts showing concurrently at the Gropius Bau and  SAVVY Contemporary in Berlin.
