Sena Başöz at FALL – a Film Poem Sampler and  Granny Ludski’s Wild Gardening (13/12/2024)

FALL – a Film Poem Sampler was the first in a series of events observing, researching and opening up established contours and dynamics between visual art and text. Selected films screened at Beaconsfield London on 12 December and at the Andrew Stewart Cinema, Glasgow University on December 13, 2024. FALL is an exploration of experimental film and text and announces the start of a new collaboration between Beaconsfield and Glasgow University’s Creative Writing course.

Sena Başöz’s The Box consists of a sequence of various objects hidden inside thick, dark, long hair being picked over sometimes by a male and sometimes by a female hand. In the video compassion and care trigger phenomena in contrast such as concealment and revelation, holding on and letting go, death and life.

The Box was also screened at the Rio Cinema on December 5, 2024. The Rio Cinema founder Granny Ludski presented a night of art films, live music and performance to mulch the effects of the darkening season. Throughout the cinema, the screening program weaved a tangled hedgerow of works that plant seeds, ferment, rot, and hibernate their way to a different world.
