İz Öztat exhibiting in knotting unruly ties at nGbK, Berlin (21/06/2025)
İz Öztat’s new video work titled Here and now, and after? and watercolors are featured in the exhibition knotting unruly ties, on view from June 21 to August 24, 2025 at neue Gesellschaft für bildende Kunst (nGbK) in Berlin. Through an exhibition, web series, and workshops, the project explores the affective force of property and the ways in which it is contested through collective resistance.
Focusing on unruly relationships, bodies, and spaces that resist dominant control, the participating artists question the labor conditions of the art field, state obligations, and colonial legacies embedded in land and memory. Curated by Jyl Franzbecker, Tyan Fritschy, Sonja Hornung, Mizu Sugai and Ülkü Süngün, the exhibition embraces aesthetics of solidarity, mutual care, and refusal of self-ownership — knotting unruly ties.
Alongside İz Öztat, the exhibition features contributions from AG Art Worker Solidarity, Mel Baggs, Casa Kuà, Nino Bulling, Vika Kirchenbauer, Bär Kittelmann, knowbotiq, Amanda Priebe, Anikẹ Joyce Sadiq, Sickness Affinity Group, and Steckenpferde Webserie AG.
